The Order of the Founders and Patriots of America


Since its inception, the Foundation has supported the recognition of outstanding young people in our nation’s military and naval academies through awards programs that have been permanently endowed by the Foundation or which are funded out of current donations. To date, the following awards programs have been established:

Admiral George Dewey Class Of 1858 Award

U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland

Navy – Admiral George Dewey Award.

Named for Past Governor General ADM George Dewey, USN, USNA 1858, this annual award is made by the National Order in May of each year. The recipient of the Admiral George Dewey Class of 1858 Award is that Midshipman of the graduating class who stands highest in the professional courses in naval weaponry.

Lieutenant General Herman Nickerson, Jr. Award

U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland

Marines – Lt. General Herman Nickerson Jr. Award.

Named for Past Governor General LGEN Herman Nickerson, Jr, USMC (Ret), this annual award is made by the National Order in May of each year. The recipient is that Midshipman of the graduating class selecting the United States Marine Corps who best demonstrates the qualities of integrity, professionalism, honesty and military bearing, i.e., the ideal potential Marine.

The Falcon Award For Physics

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Air Force – The Falcon Award for Physics.

This annual award is made by the National Order in May of each year. The recipient is the outstanding graduating Air Force Academy cadet majoring in Physics. The actual award is a Falcon Trophy, which is presented at the Academy’s annual Awards Ceremony.

Lieutenant General John MacNair Wright, Jr. Award

U .S. Military Academy, West Point, New York

Army – Lt. General John M. Wright Jr. Award

Named for Past Governor General LGEN John M. Wright, Jr., USA (Ret), USMA 1940, this annual award is made by the National Order in May of each year. The recipient is the outstanding graduating West Point cadet majoring in Environmental Science or Engineering in the Department of Geography and Environmental Engineering. The actual award is an Army Officer’s Saber.
